Long Beach Open Call

In July, before our crazy-carnival-marriage-madness, we held an open call in Long Beach. Basically, we pick a spot somewhere and spend the day taking family pictures! We had 4 families come to our latest… one we had photographed at our last open call. It was so great to see the kids again, and meet all the new ones! These are a few of our favorites from the day. We left out the one of our assistant napping on the grass hehe.

Engkraf Family

We headed down to Claremont for this sweet family session. The girls were very extroverted, which is so much better than being shy! They were throwing down the goofy faces and rolling their eyes when the parents started kissing. We wandered up and down and all around an old citrus packing house in Claremont, it was a photographer’s heaven … lots and lots of textured backgrounds! This is just a little peek at their fun shoot! Thanks you so much for letting us capture your family’s great personality.

Honeymoon Adventures

Mike: What is that?
Brynn: THAT’S IT! Turn here!
Mike: Are you kidding me? Seriously?
Brynn: (nervous) Ya.. it’s super cool. Just trust me.

So began the first stop of the “no-plan plan” as Mike likes to call it. I found a smokin deal on Travelzoo for the ACE Hotel & Swim Club for the first night of our honeymoon. I had been wanting to visit it since I saw it in a wedding article back when I was still planning the BAM (Brynn and Mike) wedding. But when we pulled up to the hotel, we couldn’t see all the coolness from the parking lot, and I could tell Mike was thinking, what the heck did she get me in to now?! Fast forward 10 minutes when we get to our (freely upgraded) room + private patio complete with fire pit… and Mike is starting to dig it. Fast forward another 10 minutes and BAM is poolside + Margaritas…. life is good. The music is perfect (we even heard one of our wedding songs). After floating in the pool we got our next round brought to us in a hammock (which we shared). The next morning we busted out the professional gear.. stumbled to the Amigo Room for breakfast. I actually got some of my pictures into this post. (woo hoo) This is the perfect hotel to go hang out at for a couple hours or to go with a group of people… we want to try the taco party (minimum is 6 people so we’re looking for 4 more!)

Now this is my idea of a mini bar!

Each room has it’s very own record player + records..

We meant to have our pictures taken in the photo booth, and ended up forgetting.. surprise surprise. I guess it just gives us a reason to go back!

This is a good look on a honeymoon right?

45 Years and counting…

We met the Williams family yesterday, before their 45th wedding anniversary celebration. Mike and Linda’s daughter Megan tried to surprise them with a family photo session, but Linda snooped around and had already found us on facebook to check out our work before we got there! We photographed them with their children and grandchildren in their beautiful backyard. This family was unbelievably fun to work with, so full of laughter and love it was contagious. I don’t think we’ve ever laughed so much with clients, it almost didn’t  feel like work! Here are just a few of Mike and Linda, by themselves and with their children. Happy Anniversary, and many happy returns of the day!
